Variance in sexual orientation is a inbuilt tendency in human behaviour. A certain percentage of homosexuals, bisexual, transgender, and other variants are born in every generation.
The higher acceptance of same sex relationships has more to do with people realizing that it’s not cool to kick some people just because they’re a minority.
Shortpacked did a strip years ago explaining how allowing gay marriage would decrease the number of gay people, since the system until now has forced gay people to hide in the closet, often marrying into heterosexual relationships and having children (or, as Mccoy puts it, “produce more” gays).
People like McCoy, the ones who hate gay people, should want them to marry so they don’t procreate.
